Oviposition-site selection may be greatly affected by competitive plant-mediated interactions between phytophagous insects but these interactions have been poorly investigated on trees. Here, we evaluated the potential interaction between two invasive pests of Eucalyptus trees, the red gum lerp psyllid, Glycaspis brimblecombeiMoore (Hemiptera, Sternorrhyncha: Aphalaridae), and the bronze bug, Thaumastocoris peregrinusCarpintero et Dellapé (Heteroptera: Thaumastocoridae). We assessed the effect of the co-occurrence of G. brimblecombei on the selection of feeding and oviposition sites by T. peregrinus females using dual-choice bioassays. We compared developmental time and survival of the first instar of nymphs reared on healthy Eucalyptus tereticornisSmith (Myrtaceae) leaves and on leaves infested with the lerp psyllid, either with or without lerps (i.e., white conical sweet-tasting structures, secreted during the nymphal stage). Bronze bug females prefer to oviposit on lerp-carrying leaves but we found no difference in feeding preference when compared to healthy leaves. Infestation with the lerp psyllid hampered nymphal performance in terms of developmental time and survival, although the presence of lerps reverted the effect in survival and shortened the duration of the initial instar. These results display an interaction between these two insect species that affects both the oviposition preference of T. peregrinus females and the nymphal performance. Although there seems to be a discrepancy between mother preference and offspring performance, feeding on the lerps may prove beneficial to the offspring under long-term conditions and multiple infestation by other pests and diseases. La teoría de compensación tamaño-densidad de macollos posibilita calcular indicadores ecológicos relacionados a productividad y persistencia de una pastura, determinantes para definir prácticas de manejo del pastoreo. A su vez Paspalum notatum cv INIA Sepé es un cultivar capaz de producir forraje de forma eficiente en nuestras condiciones. El objetivo de este trabajo fue Identificar relaciones de compensación tamaño-densidad de macollos en Paspalum notatum cv INIA Sepé. El experimento se realizó en Tacuarembó, Uruguay desde 16/02/2016 hasta 15/03/2017. Se utilizaron parcelas de 2.5 m2, con dos dosis de nitrógeno (100 y 300 kg de N/há), bajo riego, con 4 alturas de corte (3, 10, 17 y 24 cm). El diseño experimental fue de parcelas divididas, con dos repeticiones. La ecuación calculada para la relación tamaño densidad de macollos fue y = -1.929 x + 8.6369 (R2 =0,67; p>0,01). Pendientes de -1,5 fueron encontradas para raigrás y alfalfa, en pasturas que presentaron IAF, R (relación entre área foliar y volumen) y densidad volumétrica constante. En este trabajo el IAF fue variable y el R fue diferente (p>0,05) para la altura de 24 cm (R= 41). Un R más alto indica una mayor capacidad de rebrote, debido a una mayor área foliar con relación a su volumen. Debido a las variaciones en IAF y R fue generada una nueva ecuación con pendiente de -1,26. Este valor indica que un aumento en el tamaño de macollo seria obtenido por una importante reducción de densidad, sugiriendo, que si la altura de la pastura aumentase ocurriría una reducción importante en densidad y eso comprometería la persistencia. Los efectos determinantes de las relaciones de compensación fueron generados por las diferentes alturas, no observándose evidencias de que fuese excedido el límite de resiliencia y por tanto comprometido la persistencia de la pastura entre 3 y 24 cm.
